You want your property to be as comfortable and livable as possible.  As published by REIQ in a recent article, you want your home to be your castle.

So if you are building or buying a new home here are 5 areas of your home you should spend the money on.

  1. Furniture

If you buy the right furniture it is an investment for the future.  If you look after your furniture it will look after you.  Spending that little bit more on your furniture can mean that they last longer and you do not have to replace them as often.

As you will be spending a lot of time using them, look for items that are comfortable, durable, stylish

  1. Appliances

You should do what you can to make your life easier.  You want to cook in an oven that heats properly, you want a dishwasher that washes your dishes properly and a washing machine that washes your clothes properly.

All your appliances you use almost daily and any failures can mean, replacing a fridge and/or freezer full of food.  You need to get quality products that are reliable, energy efficient and will last!

  1. Home security and safety

Your home is filled with your loved ones and prized possessions, so you should keep it safe and secure.  Home security can help protect your home and family from intruders and potential theft or dangerous event.

Whether you are looking at investing in a doorbell with a camera, quality locks, gates and fencing, a home security system with cameras and sensors, it is important that you feel safe in your own home and it can potentially save you money with your insurance.

  1. Home fittings and fixtures

It you are looking at updating some ageing parts of your property, your weigh up your options on fittings and fixtures to see if they will age or last as long as you want them too.  Fittings and fixtures such as door handles, lighting fixtures, split system air conditioners, built in robes and tv mounts, while it can be tempting to go with the cheaper options may actually cost you more in the long run.

  1. Home insurance

You have bought your dream house and furnished it with everything that you want.  Now you want to make sure that you adequately insure the house and they contents.  You should do your homework on your insurer and ensure that you insurance policy cover everything that you want insured.  If dealing with insurance companies overwhelms you, you could go and see an insurance broker to make the process easier.
