When should you put up your Christmas Lights?

It is the eternal question that has been doing the rounds of social media in recent time.

I was raised that the Christmas tree went up on 1 December and was taken down before New Years.

There seems to be a school of thought that this is the traditional time frame for Christmas decorations.

If you believe everything you see on social media (and you shouldn’t) if you put up your decorations before 1 December a range of things can happen from a elf dying to Mariah Carey taking your soul and everything in between.

However, this year I have been converted.  Is it the two excited little girls?  Is it not wanting to put said little girls in the car every second night to take them to see Christmas lights?  Is it our own excitement in dipping our toes into the Christmas light pool?

I feel that it is combination of all above as well as we had a spare Sunday and it got the better of us.

Having two children’s birthdays in December as well as Christmas parties, Santa Photos, Birthday parties, it is probably out of necessity that decorations go up early.

Whichever camp you are in, the most important thing is the you enjoy this time of year and if possible make a child’s night or day by sharing some Christmas spirit.
